Behold the Father's Love

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, NLT).

I have a few questions for you. Did having terrible relationships with others contribute to a person’s poor self-image, or did the person’s poor self-image contribute to having terrible relationships with others?

Did getting poor grades in school contribute to a young person’s poor self-image, or did the kid’s poor self-image contribute to doing poorly in school?

Those type of questions and the debate about similar questions have been fought by psychologists and psychiatrists for decades, maybe centuries. To me, both scenarios are true.

This is not Psych 101. What I am going to tell you is your bad relationships, doing poorly in school, and winding up with the job you hate probably have contributed in some way to a poor self-image and low self-esteem.

It’s time to discover that a healthy self-image, along with the grace of God and your faith in who you are in God’s sight, will bring you the life more abundantly that you desire and Jesus came to give you (John 10:10).

Every time you have a negative thought about yourself you need to quote a scripture that tells you how much God loves you, and not permit those negative thoughts to take root.

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God” (1 John 3:1).
