Determined Prayer
“The things which are impossible with men are possible with God” (Luke 18:27).
Because impossible things are possible with God, that means impossible things are possible to you.
Jesus taught us that as children of God, we have the right and privilege to get all of our prayers answered every time we pray (Matthew 7:7-11).
Jesus said, “Ask and you shall receive… for everyone that asks receives.” Everyone includes you! And James 4:2 says, “You have not, because you ask not.” So start asking with a new level of faith and confidence.
When a Gentile woman came to Jesus seeking to get her daughter healed, Jesus said, “It is not proper to take the children’s bread, and cast it to the dogs” (Matthew 15:21-28). She then wisely asked for only the crumbs that fall from the table that the children wouldn’t eat, and were fit for a dog.
Jesus could not restrain her faith and determination and said, “O woman, great is your faith: be it unto you even as you will; and her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”
How was it done unto her? Jesus said, “Even as you will.” As she “willed it,” or wanted it, is how she got it. She was an outsider compared to you, and she still got what she wanted from the Lord.
This certainly teaches that the children of God have absolute rights in our heavenly family. If just the crumbs can heal, what can the whole loaf of bread that God gives us do? Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35).
We have just as much right to expect good things from God as any child in an earthly family has a right to expect good things from their parents.
God wants you to receive from Him, and prayer and faith is how we do it!
