Unwavering

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,   and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For don’t let that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:5-8 KJV).

Notice verse 6 says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” Satan challenges your decisions trying to get you to waiver. Why? A wavering person receives nothing from the Lord according to verse 7.

And verse 8 tells us, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” What does that mean? It means a person of two opinions can’t receive anything from God. Discipline yourself to be single-minded on the Word of God.

Since a double-minded man can’t receive anything from God, the opposite is also true. A single-minded man receives everything he needs from the Lord, whereas “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (verse 8). This means he is not established, and ready to cave in and give up on what he hopes for.

If you are in the habit of making up your mind today, and changing it tomorrow, you are doomed to failure. Someone once said, “If you are not sure which way to move, it’s better to shut your eyes and move in the dark than to remain still and make no movement at all.”

Even if you’re on the right track, you can still get run over if you just sit there. Get single-minded on the Word so that you can start receiving everything Jesus died to provide for you.
