What God Gave Me

All over the world people celebrate the coming of Christmas. But it is more than Santa Claus and giving gifts. It is even more than celebrating a baby born of a virgin and given birth in a stable.

It is about God so loving the world that He gave His only begotten son and whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

The angel told the shepherds “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).

The real question is, “What did He save us from?”

That little baby born in a manger grew up and suffered in our place to save us from sin, hell, the curse, darkness, fear, guilt, shame, condemnation, self-hate, poverty, sickness, grief, sorrow, Satan, and separation from the only One who truly loves us.

So rejoice at Christmas that you can make somebody smile with a gift but know in your heart that God has given you the greatest gift, and that is Himself.
