Making a Demand on Jesus

Jesus said, “You shall ask what you will, and it shall be done for you” (John15:7).

The question is frequently asked, “Do we ask Jesus for what we desire in prayer, or do we ask the Father for what we desire in prayer? Does Jesus give us what we ask for, or does the Father give us what we ask for?”

The idea here is that we approach our Heavenly Father as we would approach a King who loves us, and is favorable to us, and we ask Him for a benefit or something we know He has promised to us, and we are certain He will grant our request.

The word “ask” when we ask Jesus means that we “require” or “demand” or call for, insisting that something be done. Something that needs to be set in order. And we speak forth a decree or command, using the name of Jesus, expecting and even demanding it to be done because it’s our right and God’s Will to have it done. We are using our delegated authority, our power of attorney, as we “take His place” to do business for Him on earth.

When it comes to asking Jesus and Him giving it to us, it is more like us speaking or demanding, or commanding something to be done for Him, in order to accomplish God’s Will on earth.

Jesus explained it this way: “And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18, NKJV).

You have been granted the use of the name of Jesus to do the works of Jesus.
