You Are a New Person
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away and behold all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Do you know that what you receive from God and life depends on the way you see yourself? Your self-image determines how blessed you are.
Today in the news we read about Identity Theft and Identity Fraud. Did you know that the first Identity Theft took place in the Garden of Eden?
You probably know the story about the serpent tempting Eve to eat the forbidden fruit (most people think the fruit was an apple). God had made man (Adam and Eve) in His image (Genesis 1:26).
The way the serpent (the devil) duped Eve into disobeying God (and transferring her authority to the devil) was to say that she was not like God, but if she disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit she would be like God.
Genesis 3:4-5, basically says, “And the serpent said unto the woman, you shall not die if you eat of the fruit that God told you not to. For God knows that in the day you eat thereof your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like God, knowing good and evil.”
The Serpent insinuated (in-sin-you-ate-it) that Eve was not like God, but there was something she could do to become like God. The truth was that she was already like God, according to Genesis 1:26.
God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:26-27).
The first attack on the human race was regarding our identity, our self-image. And it’s very safe to say that the devil hasn’t changed. He attacks your identity daily. That’s why it’s important to discover what God has made you to be in Christ.
