Chosen By God

“For I know what I have planned for you, says the Lord. I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NET).

It would be reasonable to think that a person who has achieved great successes or fame and has the praise and accolades of his peers would naturally have a great self-image. However, that might not always be the case.

People that you would think have a wonderful life with everything going for them and every reason to be happy, if given the truth serum, might tell you that they hate their life.

The signals we get from people on the exterior; the smiling, happy-go-lucky confidence and mannerisms that appear so desirable and appealing on the surface, can be much different from what’s happening in their mind on the inside.

I really want to emphasize is that a poor self-image and low self-esteem has definitely attracted and led to undesirable experiences on a huge scale. The vast majority of people have never seen the correlation between a poor self-image and the forfeiture of blessings, and what could be called, an unlucky or cursed life.

The really great news is that you didn’t choose God to love you. He loved you before you even knew Him. “But God commended his love towards you, in that, while you were yet a sinner, Christ died for you” (Romans 5:8).

Jesus said, “you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you” (John 15:16). God loved you so much that even while you were a sinner He sent Jesus to die for you. Jesus chose you, so be encouraged. Look at yourself as one chosen by God.
