Your Perpetual-Motion Machine

Our self-talk and our self-image are like an internal perpetual-motion machine. What we say to ourselves affects our self-image, and our self-image affects what we say to ourselves. It’s either a blessing cycle or a cursing cycle.

We can greatly improve our self-image by disciplining ourselves to mentally affirm, and mentally say and picture things to ourselves that God has already said about us. In this way, our internal perpetual-motion machine is going to benefit us big time, and our self-image is going to skyrocket!

It’s nearly impossible not to listen to, and be affected by our internal voice, even when that voice is critical and may be the opposite of what we want and what is actually happening, or has happened in the past.

Most of us have a well-developed habit of putting ourselves down and telling ourselves what we can’t become, can’t achieve, can’t have, can’t do, and don’t deserve.

The Bible tells us the exact opposite. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

As we discover how much God loves us, and who and what He made us to be when He raised Jesus from the dead, amazing peace and happiness will be ours. Our job is to rehearse in our mind those things frequently and soon we will start seeing life through different eyes.
