God Uniquely Favors You
“With favor God compasses you as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).
God's favor manifests in ways that are “out of the box” unique to each believer. Many who are unaware of favor call this “luck” or “happenstance.”
Let me give you an example. I have always liked the ocean and, several years ago, became certified for scuba diving. What a delight it has been to view first-hand the aquarium (oceans and seas) that God made.
The exhilaration of seeing sharks up close, the joy of swimming with endangered giant green sea turtles, and the spotted eagle rays in Hawaii have been highlights in my life. I also enjoyed the adventures of swimming through an airplane of a sunken ship on the bottom of the ocean in Aruba. For me, that's God’s blessing and favor!
Not everyone enjoys the same thing. That’s why God made a variety of interesting things. Perhaps you like to snow ski. I don’t. But maybe you think it’s really great. For you, a blessing out of God’s good treasure chest of favor might be to get a super reasonable rate at a lovely resort chalet or cabin right next to the ski lift. Having fresh powdered snow and the best hot chocolate you’ve ever tasted might seem like heaven on earth to you. That's God's blessing and favor for you!
When I travel, I usually don't like to go to museums. Maybe you love museums, and for you, God's favor would be getting a front-of-the-line pass to the Louvre in Paris or the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Perhaps on the day you visit the museum, they just so happen to have an exhibition you read about years ago and wished you could someday see. For you, that's God’s favor!
My point here is that God wants to favor you and do things for you that are particular and unique to your personality and likes. But for God to do unique and marvelous things for you, you must believe Him. You have to develop faith in the favor of God.
