Desire on Fire

“The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).

An important ingredient in effective prayer is desire. Desire means, to crave, long for, yearn, covet, to relish, passion, lust.

Jesus said, “What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them” (Mark 11:24).

Most Christians pray for things they think would be nice, or things they wish for. Jesus said you would only receive in prayer the things you desire, not wish for.

Desire is a fervent feeling with strength and intensity behind it. Most people pray prematurely before they have taken time to develop desire. Take the time to let God give you a red hot, burning desire that will come as you delight yourself in Him (Psalm 37:4).

Get your desire on fire!
