Feed Your Desires
God said that if you delight yourself in the Lord, He would give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
I had a friend in Canada who owned a locksmith shop. When he hired a new locksmith, he would take him to lunch to discuss the job requirements. He would also ask, “What kind of a car would you like to have?” The new employee would say, “A new Chevy or Ford.”
My friend would say, “No, really, if money were no object, what kind of a car would you really like to have?” The new employee would then say something like, “A new Mercedes, convertible, red.”
My friend would then take the employee to the Mercedes Benz dealership and make the employee sit inside a red Mercedes convertible.
Suddenly, the employee’s sales increased. When he went to a house to make a new key, he would sell a dead bolt or door closer to the customer.
He began to sell security alarm systems when he was only called to fix a lock. Not long afterwards, he was driving a new, red Mercedes convertible.
What happened? He got a desire, then the desire got him, then he obtained the desire.
Get a real desire for the good things God has provided for you and pretty soon the desire will have you and you will have what you desire
