A Great Operating System
“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for” (Jeremiah 29:11, GNT).
God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. But if your self-image is not in-line with God’s image of you, your life will not be as good as it could’ve been.
Your self-image includes the way you think about your looks, personality, potential, intelligence, wittiness, humor, competence, talents, abilities, accomplishments, integrity, successes, failures, and a huge number of other factors. This includes the way other people have responded to you, treated you, and said to you, that has helped cause you to come to certain conclusions about yourself.
Just as a computer has an operating system that every function of the computer is in subjection to, so a person’s self-image is like their internal operating system that every phase of their life is in subjection to.
If your operating system (self-image) is healthy and strong, you will be able to do, achieve, and experience many wonderful things. If your operating system (self-image) is outdated, faulty, or in poor condition, what you do, achieve, and experience in life will be very restricted or inferior.
God wants to encourage you by letting you know that you are His child. “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (Romans 8:16).
Be encouraged! God has made you His very own child. Think about it. Now that has to be encouraging!
