God's Workmanship
“For I know the thoughts and the plans I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome” (Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC).
Since childhood, most of us have heard that it’s important to have good thoughts about yourself and to “like yourself.” For many of us, our parents told us not to be so critical of ourselves and to accept and love who we are, who God made us.
What we haven’t heard is the immense role that our self-image plays when it comes to personal happiness, relationships, attitudes and perceptions, and receiving good things from God and life.
For that reason my definition of self-image may not seem that profound, but let me again assure you that your self-image is your internal thermostat that regulates how much happiness, peace, prosperity, and abundant life, you allow yourself to receive, experience and enjoy.
Self-image is “the ideas, thoughts, perception, view, opinion, feelings, beliefs, consciousness, attitude, judgment, conception, mental image or mental-picture one has of oneself.”
Self-image is the value you place upon yourself as a person. It is how you perceive and judge yourself. It is a number of self-impressions that have built up over time, going back to your early childhood.
Self-image encouragement “for we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:10).
Be encouraged! God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
