You Are a King's Kid

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that doesn’t need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

As Christians, we are in training for reigning. Earth is the university for eternity. So it’s important to learn our lessons about who God made us to be when we received Jesus as our Lord. It’s also important to learn what He did for us before we get too old to enjoy the blessings He has for us.

How you view yourself sets the measure of your ability to receive from God and life. A poor self-image (God-image) will keep a person imprisoned in a pitiful, depressing, and painful place.

The Bible says, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7).

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Let’s run some scenarios about how that truth plays out in people’s lives.

If, in a man's heart, he thinks he’s a loser, he will continually suffer loss. Mainly through self-sabotage. His negative experiences prove, or at least reinforce, that he’s a loser. If, in his heart, he thinks his lot in life is to only have hand-me-downs and second best, that’s all he can ever get.

I wanted to be a medical doctor or a surgeon, but my poor self-image got me involved with drugs and foolishness. On the other hand, if we can train ourselves to think in our hearts that we are victors and that God is with us and wants us to succeed, we will win in life. And that’s precisely what we are endeavoring to do. Win in life!

The degree to which we are blessed is determined by our self-image because the extent to which we are blessed can never outrun our self-image. So we must believe that God loves us and to think of ourselves as the King’s kids.

You are loved and special!
