Joint-Heir With Christ

“Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God” (1 John 3:1).

Suppose someone who loved you left you diamonds and cash in a safety deposit box. All you could ever need. They gave you the bank information and the key. But if you neglected the bank information and misplaced the key, you would do without. Knowing God’s love for you is a key that will open amazing treasures for you. Don’t lose that key!

Remember, God and life will treat you how you see yourself. Someone who sees himself as a son or daughter of God will certainly receive more from God than one who sees himself as unworthy and undeserving. That’s why you must constantly work on improving your self-image by discovering and constantly reaffirming how much God loves you and who you are “In-Christ.”

Once we see clearly from the Bible God’s amazing love for us and who God made us to be when we accepted Christ, we must hold that mindset. It’s hard to do because we look at our behavior and criticize and condemn ourselves. The great thing is God doesn’t condemn us.

We need to get to where we believe we are who God says we are, every day and under all conditions, for the rest of our life.

The way we do this is to constantly read and reread what Jesus has done for us through His death, burial, and resurrection. Repetition is how we learned our ABCs, and 2+2=4. And the repetition of who God made us to be when we receive Jesus as our Lord will make us confident about God’s love and our position in Him.

God calls us “Joint-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17).
