Possess Your Possessions
Once we see clearly from the Bible how much God loves us and who God made us to be when we accepted Christ, we must hold that mindset every day for the rest of our lives. The importance of this truth takes on a fuller meaning when we examine the failure of the Children of Israel.
God brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt’s bondage with signs and wonders, and miracles. (Signs, wonders, and miracles are needed today to show the world that God is not dead, He is alive!)
It was God’s plan to immediately take the delivered Israelites into the Promised Land to possess their possessions and enjoy the best that the world has to offer. However, the people demanded that spies be sent into the Promised Land to make sure it was like God had said it was (Deuteronomy 1:22).
Twelve of the leading pastors representing each of the twelve tribes of Israel were selected to go and examine the land and bring back word of their findings. All 12 spies brought back a glowing report that the land did indeed flow with milk and honey and was a wonderful place to live. The report confirmed that what God said was true (what a surprise).
Unfortunately, 10 of the 12 spies had something to add to the good report. The Bible says they brought forth an evil report about their inability to take the land because there were walled cities and giants in the land.
The ten fearful and unbelieving leaders (spies) caused the Children of Israel to lose heart and view themselves as grasshoppers. Like many of God’s children today, they had a “grasshopper mentality,” which prevented them from possessing their possessions.
It may be hard for you to accept, but the Bible declares you are a child of God. Get rid of the grasshopper mentality and get a child of God mentality and see how much your life will improve.
