No Fear, Just Faith

In the Bible, God wanted the children of Israel to go into the Promised Land when they exited Egypt immediately.

The people demanded that Moses send spies unto the Promised Land to see if it was that good. When the spies came back, they all agreed that it was awesome. However, ten spies said, “All people that we saw in the land are men of great structure.” In other words, giants. (Numbers 13:32).

That statement was a lie because the children of the adults present that day went in and possessed the land, starting with the first city, which was Jericho. There were no giants in Jericho. In fact, Rahab, the harlot, told Joshua’s spies that everyone in the Promised Land was afraid of the Children of Israel.

Rahab said, “I know that the Lord has given you the land.” (“has” is past tense.) God had already given the land to His people. However, they didn’t possess it because of exaggerated fear and poor self-image.

Rahab continued, “And the terror of you has fallen upon us, and all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you (including that small percentage that were giants). As soon as we heard about you, our hearts surrendered, neither did there remain any more courage in any of us (including the giants) because of you” (Joshua 2:9-11).

The Children of Israel were afraid of people who were terrified of them, and fear caused them to die in a desert and not experience God’s best.

The question has to be asked, “What fear are you afraid of that is actually terrified of you?”

Use your faith in God’s love for you and overcome your fears. “There is no fear when you embrace God’s love for you because perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18).
