Focus and Win

The number one reason that motivated and competent people fail is broken focus.

In-N-Out is a family-owned business and does not offer franchises. It is totally focused on burgers and fries. If you want a salad, they don’t have it. A chicken sandwich? They don’t have that either. How about an iced coffee? Nope! A filet of fish? No! You’ve got to go to Burger King or McDonald’s if you want those items.

In-N-Out is totally consumed and focused on producing one thing. The best hamburger ever.

What is the desire that consumes you? What do you want? Materializing your heart’s desire requires focus. A broken focus will cause you to fail in your attempt to have what you desire. The apostle Paul gave us a key principle to having what we desire.

Philippians 3:12-14 NIV says, “Not that I have already obtained all of this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. For In-N-Out, it was having the best burgers in the world, and many think they have achieved their goal through commitment and focus.

Forget what is behind. Forget the peripheral things around you. Forget about what the naysayers predicted. Go for your goal! Go for your dream!

What lies behind you is history. What lies ahead is possibility.
